You've certainly succeeded in capturing birds in flight, and you've done so beautifully, Arwa. The composition is fabulous and the tones are great. I might suggest sharpening the photo a bit to help the birds stand out a bit more against the background. It's a small thing, but I think it will really enhance the dramatic impact. Very well done! ah, Duotone is where you use two different tints on a B&W image: say, brown shades for the darker tones and blue shades for the lighter areas.
in Photoshop, you can go to Image, Mode, Duotone and pick your colors. You can create tritones or quadtones as well. Try it out!!

Hi paul! Thank you for your insight on all the “birds” pics! Whats duotone? plain black and white? no filters?

I think I prefer this version to the color one, Arwa.
Maybe do it in duotone?
I agree with your use of vignette in this shot, as the texture on the rock in the corner really tries to pull the gaze that way.

Very nice Arwa but why didn't you made the photo in a square? I think it's stronger than. Anyway a very good one and ofcourse in my favorite colour B&W, regards, FEmke

hi hugo! Feel free to give any critique after all your one of the uesfilmers who got me to where I am now (not so good but improving :P) I see your point about the toning and yes I might have over used it It works better with floras and still life rather than wildlife images I’ll post the colored one just for you! Thank you for your help :) arwa

Hi Arwa,
ah, you've seen the critiques corner. IMHO the best of the UF =)
I like the inclusion of land here. the open space to the left opens up the imagination... are there still more to come or are these birds the last in the series?
nice catch. Hugs, Thilo

Hi Arwa, good action shot, and very well composed. I';m desperately trying to look through the toning, though. I think it forces an atmosphere on this photo which doesn't do justice to the shot; I know you apply this frequently, and it is a personal dislike of such (in my eyes rather unnatural and fringed) tones. Won't go into that, as it's definitely a part of artistic freedom.
The sharpness is good, and I also like the reference to "dry land", created by the rock in the lower right. The only nitpicking I could do is that I think if the wings of the foremost bird wouldn't overlap the one behind it, it would've been awesome. Good call of leaving the empty space on the left where it is, it creates a nice directional space, and evokes a feeling of freedom. (Whereas I think the toning imposes a rather more claustrophobic and depressing element. Sorry, couldn't help it...:))
Good shot.
Cheers,
Hugo
