What a suggestive and expressive photo! The overexposure combined with graininess/low sharpness, and the unusual point of view - all these contribute to a very unusual, distinct photo, that is so rich in expression! Almost a capture of one's remembrance of some special moment.
Fantastic work!

Hey Kate.
Thanks for your comment on my "Plantain leaf" photo. I was fascinated by their texture and took shots to digitally experiment with Zone System. Here I like the texture of the girl's coat, and the high contrast. Very soft image, in a good way.
Your photos have a direct, emoptionally involved feel, and also your composition I think tends to be center-focused (like "Coke Bottle" and "Autobiography/Risk") which adds to the impact. That's my interpretation anyway, probably because they are also the traits I notice in my own shots.
Maybe my work is more naive, I didn't go to an art school :-) Your works have a raw edge that I hope to develop.

hi and thanks for comment which lead me to your work....can't believe 16 people would view this wonderful shot without leaving a comment! I LOVE this image!...just the right amount of info/fading/contrast level and perfect for B/W...very unique look which reminds me of the toning of old civil war photos called "momento mori"....i have one of similar toning i created in paintshop pro8 of an old 1890's cemetery... keep up the creative work,Katy...regards,gayle
