About photo taken Oct 2005 in early afternoon sunshine under clear skies in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Phila. PA overlooking Schuylkill River
***storyline***
memorial built by Henry Dmoghowski-Sa(U)nders in memory of his infant twin daughters who drowned in the Schuylkill R.(1855) and his wife Mary Schaaff, 34, who died two years later of a "paralyzed heart". Examples of his sculpting are exhibited in the U.S. Capitol Bldg. After completion of this glorious piece, Henry left broken-hearted for his native Poland never to return to the US. Although time & weather have erased much of the marbled inscription, what remains proudly professes his love "We should count time in heart throbs. He most lives who thinks most, feels the nobelest, acts the best." A truly remarkable work of art.

Well captured and the intriguing part is the unique perspective . . . from behind. Good capture.

Thanks for sending that - there really was something haunting about that image. And I was interested to see what it was like from the front. The expresion with the twins so poignant.

Thanks so much for enjoying this particular piece and reading the story Mary. The ages have not been kind to the marble details.

This is just amazing- the picture was immediately captivating. But to read the story behind it is so sad and gives such meaning.
