Hi Darlene, Great pose, captured at the exact right moment, I'd say.I alo like the tones,as well as the details , specifically in the feathers. The head seems a bit soft,, could that be a slight motion blur? Would be easier to assess if you'd included the camera settings....;)

As to the composition, I think panning down a bit would've balanced the composition a bit more, but that does not distract from the beauty of this shot; excellent use of DOF, creating a nondescript background without distractions.

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Darlene, this Egret and photo both have an amazing form. The exposure is basically perfect. Good highlight detail. The shadows get a little plugged up towards the tree in the bottom, however this is cleary secondary to the highlight detail on the Egret.

I also feel there is just abit too much open space on the top of the image. Maybe having an even amount of space to the right hand side of the frame to the bird, and from the birds beak to the top of the frame could improve.

Regards,
Chris

It's very difficult to try to improve this gorgeous shot, but if I had to suggest anything, it would be to increase the contrast and the sharpness a bit. As it stands, this creature is a trifle dingy without the shimmer and sparkle of some of your other great captures. Even so, it is a superb shot. Thanks for the on-going inspiration of your work.

Regards,
--George

Hello Darlene,

What a great picture! The pose and composition are beautiful and, of course, the focus and exposure are perfect. I love the details in the featers!

Another beauty in the series Darlene! You are certainly making the most out of this photo shoot of the Egrets nesting. You have to love the fine feathers in this one. Nice composition too!

Apologies for the lack of critique Darlene, I didn't realise that this was a CC image until after I had posted.

Beautiful, love the background blur Darlene. How on Earth do these egrets keep their balance? !

Don't worry Darlene....these days I find it difficult to catch up. I love this shot. I think this is an egret unwinding it's neck after tucking it in for a flight. Beautifully detailed feathers, lovely pastel colours and all with a perfect dof. Well done to you my dear. All the best....Ray

Looks like it's limbering up to do a bit of necking.:) Seriously, I like the soft background ( or 'Bokeh'. I've been reading camera books again.) The bird really stands out nicely. The vertical wide line in the background from a tree trunk could have been cloned out, maybe. A bit distracting, I feel. Otherwise, another great shot from the Bird Lady. Cheers, Ann.

Wow, wonderful amazing moment. I really like the shape of neck, create a natural pattern hard to see. Great capture!

This is just awesome. Not only you've caught it in the correct moment, but it's also the shallow DOF and the brown background that makes it stand out. Excellent work, well done!
