Thank you for the article, Jim, it helped me a lot to understand how I do the corrections and why I should do them, without having the feeling that "I don't show the true photos" as I took them. So even taking perfect photos and scanning completely right, doesn't necessarily mean that the scanned version is identical to the real photo on paper. Good to know.
Thank you so much, Jim, that's so kind of you! Indeed it looks better this way. Also, many thanks for the link. I'll read your article because I only have rudimentary know-how in image manipulation with software.
By the way, well, I feel a bit.. uncomfortable with the idea to show not the photo that I really took, but its corrected version. Of course I can mention that it is corrected but somehow, to me at least, it feels not very good. I don't know why, perhaps I should think more of what I saw taling the photo and not so much of what the real photo looked like?
Thank you very much again, going for your article now.
Nick... attached below is a best guess. I like the hazy look, but the shadows seemed to have a green cast. There are some great red highlights in the water. It was challenging not to over do them. Check out an article I wrote on color correcting it might give you some insight. http://www.jmg-galleries.com/articles/color_correction_made_easy.html
Thank you very very much for the kindest words, Jim! Could you perhaps show me what corrections you would apply? I am curious to see what you mean, because I seem to be unable to produce some good results using color correction.
The main reason to me for keeping the colors is however, that I like the kind of "silence" that the picture seems to show in this case. Add a bit of those thoughts that are initiated by such a view, and perhaps you understand what I mean.
Anyway, the mood of the atmosphere and the colors have been quite like this on the photo, and since I had a terrible day before I went out, I guess I was seeking that kind of serenity.
Very subtle image. The shapes and textures are great. I might spend more time to color correct your image though. Other than that I think you saw something very special here.
