About The sheer size of this old priory surprised me… when I set out on this journey I expected to find a few stones and much rubble lying in a field… however once I rounded the corner the length of the remaining walls told me this place was once very big and very proud. I walked down the length towards the main gate (now unused & bolted tight… again the sign on the small back gate haunted my thoughts… ‘Enter at your own risk’)

I stopped to look at a lone standing statue. A female figure decapitated, maybe with time… Two other crevices in the wall held spaces where once, maybe, her companions stood… something seemed deeply strange about this wall… about this statue… something my gut sensed was out of place…

To be continued...

Good detail in the stonework Sue, and that grass looks so lush, but the sky doesn't work for me. I've thought that it might be useful to build up a portfolio of sky and cloud shots that could be used in situations like this where the actual sky was boring. Might even do it one day!

You are having a great time at this priory and getting some wonderful shots. It seems that this place touched you in some way. In this, you have really showed us the fabulous texture of the stone and architecture. Another lovely shot.

Very fine details and excellent composition, Sue! I like the dramatic sky hovering over the scene, too.
