Meldijana: I think it was merely used for a magazzino. There was no latch on the door, just twine wrapped around the horizontal brace where the latch might have been. Thank you for your comments.

Laura: Well, the doors in Italy are incredible. Most of them are surrounded by attempts at modernizing the structures. This particular door has a large green door added to the left and a smaller black door to the right. Probably gas or water or electricity or all three. This one looked like it might be a magazina or storage room as it wasn't too well sealed and not very tall.
