Thanks Brian, you made me laugh :) I didn't get as lucky with the flight shots, although I pulled one or two at a great distance. You can do only so much with a 70-300mm zoom!

Thank you very much Mark! I shot this flock of cranes at a great distance with my 70-300mm at maximum zoom, and I'm really pleased how it turned out for sharpness and DOF. The male is looking around with a watchful eye, while the rest of the flock picks weeds with their heads down, pretty much like wild geese. Best regards, Ina

Thank you very much Sheila, if you like bird shots, I would like to recommend Darlene Boucher's site, she has an awesome collection of birds. Thanks very much for your comment :) Ina

I'm a bit taken aback by your comment, Yoshiyuki. If you have ever seen these birds in the wild, they stay in groups and the male usually looks up for dangers and listens, while the rest of the flock eats with their heads down. This is the listening pose, a rare moment when the bird stands still. They are in a vast wilderness, not tame nor used to people and are on a constant move. The next best thing is to catch them in a courtship ritual, or in flight. Best regards, Ina

Beautiful shot Ina! I tried to shoot some birds the other day and none of my shots looked anywhere close to this! It gave me a new appreciation for photos like this! Well done!

Awesome crop! The crop and also the generous space to the left of the bird draws my eye along the bird's line of vision. It makes the viewer wonder what the bird is looking at, which means that they have been drawn into the shot. Excellent! Also, I think the crop highlights the darker band in the middle range of the shot, which also works to increase the aparent contrast on the bird, your point of intended visual focus. Nice colors also. What a great shot, Ina!

What a beauty of tones! Though the crane looks like a stuffed bird (sorry!), but I assumed it was very much alive. The light is gorgeus! An impressive composition!
Thanks, dear Ina, for your recent visit at my site and kind comment.

Hi Ann, it's notreally out of context for me. I have a fairly big collection of birds and wildlife, I just decided not to post it here :) but it's part of Yellowstone. I hope you are studying hard, and I'm sure you'll do great. Thanks very much! And best of luck! That Old Faithful looks like like a bottle of champaign, so take it as a "sign" - plus I thank you for helping me make the right decision on that! Ta-da! Ina

Hi Ina, This will be my last comment before I shut down the computer - honest - haha.

I couldn't let this one go by without saying how beautiful an image it is. Such wonderful details and clarity throughout and so out of context for you Ina. Absolute pure photography at its finest. The warm colours are stunning and the DOF is perfect as is the composition. A fantastic image. Great work Ina. Very impressive.

Cheers - Ann :)
