Len: Ah, yes,thank you. Paintings were the earliest method of recording scenes. I've heard comments that certain paintings look just like photographs. If I were painting this scene, I could leave out the plumbing pipes, satellite antennae and motorboats, to name a few things. They are trying to bury more of the utilities under the sidewalks in Venice now. They frequently have to pull them all up in order to stay ahead of the settling in any case.

I have not yet 'finished' with this magical city - have to go back there someday and wander around those alleys and waterways some more.

Steven: I was accompanied by three nonphotographers. We had just been dropped after a three-hour walking tour of Venice by our private guide. Three hours away from where we had commenced. We were struggling to get back to our hotel. My wife and our companions were thinking, "oh, heck, he's taking another (*&^%) stupid picture!" Now, however, this is my wife's favorite from our Italian vacation. It shows that we must fight for what is right even when our troops are calling for succor. Gelato always quelled the rebellion, I must say.
