What is interesting is I do not really perceive that only half of her face is in the frame. I can see her whole face. So it's not only the eyes that see, but also the mind. Very good visual commentary and portrait.

Nathan, i simply adore your portraits, i want to be able to shoot like you. You say you use natural light in a bathtub? i wish i had windows in my bathroom. Any advice for someone who is about to shoot their first, (but really important) portrait shoot? (lighting ect..) Im asking your advice because i admire your work.

Hey Nathan...nice to see your sister. I dont mind the grain and short DOF here, probably because I have come to know your work and the mystic quality that you develop in some of your images. I think the grain and dof give this image that quality.....*smile*.....Maggie

I agree with david, the composition and mood are quite nice. The dof is just where it should be. I think it works very well.

Nice composition and use of short depth-of-field. The eye really stands out when everything around it is soft.
While grain can be nice for certain kinds of subjects, I think it is a distraction here. Big grain plus short DOF to me seems like too many effects in one photograph. If you want to keep the tonality of Tri-X without as much grain, some options would be moving up in format, or you might try a staining developer like PMK Pyro or DiXactol.
