About I recently realized that I never posted this entire sequence. This is the third and last image in this sequence. The previous two images to this sequence can be seen in my portfolio.

Taken at the Mavericks Big Wave Surf Champioinship

This image along with some of my others from this event were picked up and used in a feature article on Surfmag.com early last year.

This is the first of three images in a sequence.

I have also written and published an article on the Mavericks Big Wave Championship on my web site - http://www.jmg-galleries.com
I welcome you to read it.

excellent series Jim, I love the powerful look and feel! I have shot at mavericks often during surfing comps and do have credentials, If you ever want to jump on board a media tub let me know ahead of time, It always kinda makes me seasick bouncing around while looking through the viewfinder......

Wow what a wave! The people in there give it perspective that wouldn't be there otherwise. Really nice job Jim. I can see why it would be picked up by a magazine.

That being said, I give you a real "wow" for this capture.

Ron unfortunately the break is about 1/4 - 1/2 mile out. I was on top of a 50 foot cliff with the longest lens I had. The only way to get close is to be off to the side of the break on a media boat. At the time I didn't have media credentials.

That's a powerful wave Jim, and a well captured sequence. Makes my Queensland one look pretty tame ;)

What a monster wave - it just dwarfs the surfers.

Oh my....a really amazing action shot Jim. I wonder if that tiny little figure of a surfer survived this bail. Those waves are so huge and he bails into all that seafoam churning around him like a washing machine. You've really caught the power of this surf here. A very dynamic image. I love the green in the wall of the wave. Makes for super contrast against the white wash. A powerful image. Well done on having it go into the mag. Congratulations.

Cheers - Ann :)
