You're right, Joggie, it does make a difference. Thank you. I like your version better. I'll go back and have another go at it. I do appreciate your advice. Cheers, Ann.

Hi Ann, The image that Joggie posted is more what I had in mind for the tilt. I like the exaggerated diagonal tilt. Looks great.
Cheers - Ann :)

Hi Ann - Definitely an improvement - the trouble with the highlights are that they are blown out in your original with all detail lost. Thats why I would rather underexpose to keep the detail and later brink out the darker areas a bit - be careful though not to overdo it because it will then increase the noise dramatically - keep a balance! In PS you can clone areas of the skin that is of the same tone and colour over the over-exposed areas.I downloaded your image and fiddled a bit myself. The main differences are in the crop (tilted, a lighter background, and the highlight areas cloned in. I also made a slight reduction in the yellow saturation. Small changes but it do make a difference. Kind regards. Joggie

Thank you, Joggie, for your kind comments and great advice. I've recropped this pic and fiddled with Levels a bit more, but can't seem to fix the highlights. I do like the new crop better. What do you think? Cheers, Ann.

Beautiful macro Ann. Look like some kind of reed frog which will not grow much bigger than this. you could place the reed blade at a steeper angle, allowing you to come a bit closer to fill the frame. I see you you have the same problem with the highlights. It seems to be the flash, resulting in harsh lighting with too high contrast. I normally under-expose (-0.7) in these situations to retain the detail in the highlights and then use the shadow/highlight function in PS to restore the detail in the darker areas. Good luck and enjoy! Kind regards. Joggie

I love this Ann. To me it looks good just where the frogs are. If I was going to do anything to this photo rather than crop I might tilt it so the branch point upwards more as though the frogs were climbing it. The details and clarity in the frogs and branch are excellent and the background is a perfect complimet to really make it all stand out. Great shot.
Cheers - Ann :)

Neat combo!! Great colors, details, DOF and composition... well captured!!! I maybe would consider cropping a bit from the bottom to get the frogs plus blade somewhat more off center...
