Thank you George... an excellent comment.

It would not have been possible getting this shot with my old Canon A40 due to the camera shake.. so I wanted to try this one straight away with the Lumix.

I don't own a tripod yet... & whilst taking this shot I was leaning on a lamppost... the tip about ISO setting is great... Hopefully once I get used to this camera I can get a clearer night shot of this Lion.. he really does look excellent in the dark.

It looks like a fine statue all right, and the color is splendid. Avoiding camera shake in situations like this is a constant battle. Of course, I never have a tripod and remote release with me--the only truly satisfactory solution. Occasionally, I might have a monopod, but usually I just try to brace on a wall or lightpost. My other efforts to get good night shots include using a high ISO setting and an anti-shake lens. (And focusing is very difficult, too!) Best of luck--and let me know any suggestions you might have for such situations.
