Hi Mark, that is so true - that's where the magic is, in the little things...

For me, I associate it with Christmas and holiday season. I saw things this way when I was a child; little things grownups would just ignore. If people would just stop and take a look, there are things, simple pleasures in seeing. The little Christmas bulbs do it for me!

Thanks Mark, I thought the free forms and bright lights over the rigid architecture was a metaphor for a number of things related to the Holidays. Best regards, Ina

I go from the branches, to the Christmas bulbs, to the window. Each plays a part in this little slice of time. The bulbs are the main point of interest; it all radiates from there. It has a wonderful poetic quality.

Same as about the one before but the cleverly used DOF provides a fine painterly quality. A real moody winter image, good job, Ina. György

I like the focus on the intertwined branches and wire+bulbs. Against the background of the old bulding this is of great visual effect!

Thanks Andre, I'll follow your suggestion next time I go there. Hopefully the lights are still there :)

I like this one the best of the branches and the lights. I think it may be due to the sepia tones. This seems to fit the mood better. What a creative and enteresting point of view. (Literally) This is really nice work.

Hi Ina,
I think the interplay between the lights and the building works better on this one than the previous colour version. Mostly due to the size and number of lights. It would still be interesting to see this exact same shot with the DOF inverted (fuzzy glowing lights and sharp building)
Nice job on this shot too though.

Ina, nice layout balance between foreground and the architectural background and a great backlighting of the twigs - shows great Christmas spirit in this city of all seasons. I love NotL, Cheers, n.j

Why Mark, I'm surprised you like this type of framing? (:>) On a serious note, it's really a framing that (in my opinion) doesn't compete with the picture, more like a slide frame, or a film edge. I like it too :)
This was a difficult subject both for focus and lighting, but I think being overcast actually helped. I have tried a number of pictures and angles, but most came slightly blurred, and the bulbs had lots of purple fringing. I had to go to sepia or B & W to get rid of it. Again, thanks for your comment, best regards, Ina

Oh Ina, I love it! The darker scene and less complex background in this shot, as compared to your other posting in this series, really accents the branches and the lights. Plus it appears that the lights have been turned on, which of course draws attention to them as well. Also, I like the black framing top and bottom. I think that border brings out the branches, placing them firmly in the foreground. This is a superb shot!

Hi Ina, as you know I'm still lurking hehe. I see you've been as busy as ever posting images. Doubt if I'll catch up on all comments but I'll start with this one. I love the idea. The lights themselves appear like intertwining branches. Love the DOF and the sepia tone. It has a 3D effect with a touch of surrealism. Great work. Very creative.

Thanks also for dropping by my "other" Christmas image and commenting.

Cheers - Ann :)

wow wow wow. wonderful 3D effect. it was a great idea to keep the main focus on the branch rather than the house. great tones too. stunning work.

Nice idea...a tad over-sharpened but it does add to the overall effect...well done
