A nice example of minimalism where 'less is more' works effectively in this situation. I like the smoothness of the tones and the absence of any other (possibly distracting) objects, which does lead to the question of 'the source'. I believe the crop you have chosen suits it better in my opinion as opposed to the square format , it counteracts the height of the flame rather than enhancing it - constriction which reacts well with my eyes. I cannot give any points of advice as you have done a flawless job!

Very good experiment...I might suggest a square format and maybe some framing as well.
