About Kid born just hours earlier.Just carrying one back to the farm is tiring so if 2 or 3 more are born (500 in this herd)he has to return for them later hoping the foxes don't get them meanwhile.

I find the sudden cut of his head a pity, since your focus got his expression so nicely, but the great toning and details more than balance that away, Tony. A very good separation of the man from his background allow him to be the main actor here without much intereference from anything else.

Cheers!

Nick

Thank you Gary.Unfortunately you are probably right about 'a dying way of life'The price paid to the farmers for a litre of goats milk has fallen again and there have been protests.Supermarkets continue to charge us the same high prices.

Congrats on the award Tony and well deserved it is too. i like the way you've centred the kid and the toning works well too. You're probably documenting a dying way of life with these farming images.
Regards, Gary

I may have had a glass or two, Ms Van Wijn, but alcohol helps me focus... Now while I have nothing against Heinekin as such, I would far prefer it if he were advertising a local brand such as Cruzcampo. Which is owned by, er, Heinekin.

Oh yes, I was wondering about the head as well, Shirley. But somehow I felt it help focus the image on the baby goat.

Such a tender shot, Tony. I do wish you had included more of the top of his head, though.:)

How observant AJ,Heinekin it is indeed!!In the original colour version it's very green and noticeable.
I spent Friday and Saturday afternoons with Francisco and have 3 or 4 decent shots of him and his herd which I'll be posting and will eventually end up in a future exhibition.I have quite a large collection now!

Have you been drinking mr. Miller..loll How can you think this delicate Dutch beer brand as Heineken would be ons his bag...suppose he could use one for on the road..;)) Jen

This is wonderful, Tony. There is so much local atmosphere, character and detail - right down to the stone in his hand. I like the background of the other goats looking on.

It looks like the simple life has not totally deserted this part of the world. This could be a million miles away from the commercialisation down on the coast (but is that a Heinekin logo I see on his bag?)

Great great capture Tony, this shepperd carrying his newborn back, how delicate!! He looks tired and having a responsable job bringing his flock back home... Love the b&w and the blurr background of sheep, excellent! xxJen
