you are absolutely right, gary. most of the shots i have most were taken with an olympus c-8080, which is a well made camera with one serious short coming. the focusing system is terrible. auto focus fails any time there is a lack of contrast or too much movement. the real kicker though is that manual focus is not accomplished on the barrel of lens, but with buttons, and consequently, is horribly inaccurate. i have lost so many great shots due to this it makes me sick. i am upgrading to a dslr soon, and will have way more control in the near future. anyway, thanks for taking the time to look at and comment on my work. kip
This would have been a cracking portrait if the focus was sharp. Your close crop and her eye contact and hint of a smile would have ensured it. I'm a manual focuser myself, might be worth a try if the auto's hunting or doesn't like being too close to the subject. Regards, Gary
thank you for your comment. i agree, the eyes could be focused better, but the focus system in my camera is just plain bad. i am going to upgrade to a d200 soon, so hopefully poor focus will be a thing of the past. have a great weekend.
