  Q. Membership and not donation
Ozjan Yeshar
Asked by Ozjan Yeshar   Donor  (K=15239) on 3/29/2008
Dear Al ,

I must say that you have failed to insure a payment system in all countries and instead of solving the problem of what is called donation, you decided to push the problem to others by posting
"You may make a donation to Usefilm.com on behalf of this member to make them a donor, or add an additional year to their donor status by clicking this button ".

I do not understand how others might read that but let me tell you how I understood it. It means to me that you are to busy collecting money and you do not have the interest to solve the problem of insuring that everyone can have an access and pay you money. I do not feel good about asking others to pay donation for in my behalf. In the other hand, you find another name but not donation. The word donation means charity and it does not fall under your purpose in Usefilm. I certainly agree that this site should be financed but you must have other practical bases to collect the money and to provide service worth the money you are collecting as well.

I hope you receive those words with an open mind and heart and try sincerely to solve the problem of paying money to you from all accesses around the world instead of asking us to look for someone else to pay money to you in our behalf.

Regards & respect,

Ozjan Yeshar

Hi

Unfortunately it is paypal that will not accept it. Bank transfer fees here are higher than the actual donation so Usefilm would lose money on your donation.

However due to my absence of late, I renewed your account so you may use the site the way you wish to regardless of whether you can donate or not.

Enjoy

Al

If you want to know why I have been absent it is because of a funeral.

See my other postings for details.

Dear Al,

Thank you for that you have managed to reply back and for your prompy action after a long absent. In the other hand, after thanking you in solving my problem, I will urge you to work hard to find ways to enable other with similar to my problems to pay fees form wherever they are. The limitation in access is still a problem that needs solving.

Regards & Respect,

Ozjan Yeshar

Ozjan, you should take that up with PayPal as it's their organisation not allowing you to donate rather than Usefilm.
In the past it was possible to send money by mail, but that's no longer possible due to changes in US law.
Setting up a creditcard processing facility would be too expensive given the small number of transactions it would get (and they may also reject payments from your country, I don't know about that).

International money orders for such small amounts are prohibitively expensive (it'd end up costing Al more to cash in the IMO than he'd get out of it, and you'd probably have to pay rather high service fees as well).
