there is a big glitch in the front page,if you log into the category,you will find in the field of floral a photo of a horse ,although it is a very fine horse,but it not represent the category indicated,will some one fixes that,

I think that there is a big problem with communication. This is my third attempt at reaching the person who is in charge of this site.

I didn't have this problem yet, but seeing how many people complain about that there is only one thing to say to UF: Perhaps it would be better to install somebody as an admin that keeps such an eye on such things. The people pay and so they have to get what they paid for, don't they? So do something soon.

Good guys of the UF,
I think that the "donor problem" already reached a very high frequency of appearance. Too many users are complaining, so what happens there? If the money is taken from the accounts of the people but doesn't arrive to you, then it must stay somewhere "inbetween"? Or am I wrong? And that would be really silly, since both the users and also the site would only have disadvantages - one is losing money the other is losing users.
Somebody of UF has to deal with that problem. After all we also don't find our money on the street, you must understand.

I'm only posing these questions here because I haven't gotten responses from other postings or e-mails. I don't understand why it is that, for months at least, the great majority of front page awards are given to photographs that were posted a year or more ago. Recently, most of them seem to have been posted by people who haven't uploaded a new photograph in over a year. In today's front page the photo used for the Photographer of the Day award isn't even available on the site any longer. Many of the awards shown are repeats of ones given up to five years ago. Why is it that currently active work isn't given more recognition. Every day I see terrific photos uploaded that are deserving of special recognition, by photographers who are currently active. When such things are no longer up-to-date, then Usefilm becomes no different from Flickr or other sites where you can upload your photographs.
What do you all think about this?

I can only second you in what you say, Steve, but the way the processes of UF work is (apparently) that the awards are collected in a kind of "jackpot" and used in a random way again, when the "admins" do not have the time to select some image or critique, etc. The UF doesn't seem to be moderated and monitored on a continuous way. Even the featured critiques seem to be rather the product of some automated random selection, considering the fact that many times they are not really critiques but rather small talks. (Which of course also has to happen, but you don't don't take a small talk as a "featured critique".)
One problem must be that the guys do not earn for living with UF and so I can also understand them very well, since it really needs to view the uploads and select carefully for some award. Imagine, you have a job, you have family, friends... and the day has only 24 hours. It is hard for them too - the management of such a site is no fun.
Now, what to do? Perhaps we propose taking a bit of all that work from them? Perhaps if some few people would be willing for example to search in the uploads for some good images? On a rotating way? I don't know, just ideas.
Something has to be done for keeping the "difference to Flickr", but what?
