  Q. FS: Canon 500 F4 IS

Asked by Phillip Filtz   Donor  (K=1792) on 11/18/2006
Well, I hate to part with it, but I will be selling it. I'm buying a building to move my studio to, and will use this money as part of monies for a down payment. The price is firm. I don't "have" to have the sale of this lens to buy the building, however; it will be of some use to have it. If that makes any sense.

I bought this lens probably a year ago from a fellow FM'r. He was from St.Louis best I can remember. I think I actually still have the shipping container in a back room that he used to ship it to me.

My main body of work is portrait work, and I bought this lens because I live approx 45 minutes from a wildlife refuge. I think I've used it approx 20 times in the past year. Alot of that was from the car window. The optics are great. I've only cleaned the front element once since I've had it. It's really nice to have that reach when you want it. I first bought a 70.200. That didn't cut it. Then I bought a 300F4 IS. That was better. Then I bought the 1.4TX and the 2X TX. Still not enough reach. Then I bought the 500. That was the trick.

It can be hand held to pop off shots, but I wouldn't want to hold it up all day and shoot This lens is a used lens. Meaning there are signs of usage. If you want one that is MINT no paint chips off, no scratches, no signs of use, this is not your lens. It's always in the hardshell case in the studio and during transportation. I only take it out, once I'm on site to shoot.
The lens comes with the small cap, and a soft front cover, lens hood, and hard shell case.

I will only ship it within the USA, and only UPS so it can be tracked. I'll accept cashiers check or personal check. Allow 2 weeks for those to clear. I'll provide the buyer with the UPS tracking number.

The lens will be shipped via Regular Ground, unless the buyer pays for a quicker shipment time. The lens is a Canon 500 F4 IS.
