  Q. scanning 6x6 on a flatbed
Maurizio Spadaccino
Asked by Maurizio Spadaccino    (K=5132) on 11/27/2005
Hi all,

I was just wondering if there's any way to scan a 6x6 film on a flatbed scanner that has NOT adapters for films at all (it's just a normal flatbed). I tried just placing the negative on the scanning plane but results were awful. My scanner is a HP 1015 that has not any chance to mount on adapters and I was wandering if really need to get an Epson.

Thanks

I dont believe so, what you would need to do is get an intense light to shine through the transperancy so the CCD on the scanner has a lit source to see. I don't believe it will work without an adapter and the settings for the software to know it is seeing a transperant source, and not a reflective one,

As Chris said you'll have to have a light source to illuminate the neg. If it's slide film it can be done. If neg you'll have to have the program to convert the neg image. Either way you'll have to set the dpi to 1200 or above.
