I think in Photoshop you would create several layers and apply different effects on each layer. For instance, with one layer, you would go to Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Saturation and change the Hue so the Cyan turns into Red and Green turn into Magenta. Make a layer of that and/or the original file and got to Image -> Adjustments -> Channel Mixer Click on the Monochrome box and then play with the various channels to change the greenery to white. Duplicate the layer of the monochromed image and apply Gaussian Blur and Noise to give your image the glow and grain of IF. Then go to F7 and change the Opacity of each layer so that the colors show through the monochromed image. I think the photographer/digital artist also erased outthe color of the trees in the original color layer to render it white. Pretty complicated. But once you play with PS and get the technique down, it's beautiful.

This is my IR work flow.
open image, duplicate, levels or auto levels channel mixture.
This is the important part in channel mixture.
RED CHANNEL
red to 0 blue to 100 [ do not click ok]
BLUE CHANNEL
red to 100 blue to 0 click ok
CURVES
play around in curves to get the colors you want.
RGB will affect the the image but the individual color only that color.
HUE/SATURATION
select the dominant color and adjust with sliders
this will give you blue skies and white vegatation,MASTER will affect the entire image.
one technique that I do is to create 2 or more images from the same file and blend them playing with the various settings.
The technique is IMAGE/APPLY IMAGE and play around the various options.
That is 1 of many ways,i`m not a photoshop expert
but the above works for me.
Good luck
Regards
Robert
ps for the Dimage 7 users shoot wide open to get rid or minimize hotspot,I use CURVES,selecting the color channel of the hotspot to get rid of it.
