No, but cheap cds deteriorate over time and you can face losing some or all of what you burn to a particular cd. This has happened to me several time and it's maddening.
My suggestion would be to spend the bucks on an external 250gb hard drive and use it only for archiving.

Thank you John. I was asking b/c I don't like the idea of leaving my memory card with the photo developers. I would rather hand them a CD that they can print the images off. I do keep all of my photos on my hard drive and a back up.

You should give Ofoto.com a try. They do a far better job, you can upload your stuff, and in many cases they are cheaper.

In addition to ofoto, test out MPIX.com. I use their pro division (Miller's) and occasionly use MPIX.com. I haven't found a better lab anywhere.

I thought that the images were uploaded to sites such as ofoto or shutterfly that they were compressed and there was loss of quality. I will give both sites a try.

Leave the card in the shop? Shop here at least (it's the only one I use) you offload the images you want printed onto their machine (which is just a PC with a cardreader and a touchscreen in a fancy box really, I've seen the innards :) ), tell the software what manipulation you want (crop, colour correction, etc.), take a receipt, and an hour or so later (depending on how busy they are) your prints are ready for picking up.
