  Q. Good scanner for 35mm film

Asked by Andew Gondokusumo    (K=833) on 3/30/2004
I have an Epson 1670 photo for scanning my negative, but I'm not really satisfied with the quality of it. Could anybody recomemnd me a good scanner, but affordable for scanning 35mm film slide? Thank you

Look into the ones made by Minolta, Canon or Nikon. I persoanlly use a Nikon Coolscan 4000.

I've got a Minolta Scan Elite 5400. I think it's superb when used with the Vuescan software but the packaged Minolta software could be better. Results are great though.

Do I understand right? Do these scanners scan a negitive and enlarge it to look like a print? (I'm new in this field, and I hate to appear dumb, but sometimes I just can't help it.) Also I'm wondering, what price range are we talking about. Low end scanners are less than $100, The one I am using was between $100 & $200 (4 years ago), but I'm thinking of upgrading. ---Duane---

Duane,

These scanners allow you to scan 35mm negatives and slids after which you can enlarge then to a size suitable for printing.
