  Q. Photoshop error message
Mark  - MarkMedia -
Asked by Mark  - MarkMedia -   Donor  (K=1062) on 6/29/2002
I have just recently been getting a "pop-up" error box
when I open a .jpg image that states, " no embedded color profile" - I never have gotten this before and have been using PS for a few years.....any suggestions? It does allow
me to select a "color profile", so I am able to still use
PS, I just want to get rid of this unknown error. Any
help would be appreciated.

Sounds to me like you need to switch off your colour management policies. If you go to Edit->Colour Management, and turn the management policies to off, that should do the trick. At the moment PS thinks that you want to use the embedded colour profile of the file you're opening. If you turn it off, you are essentially telling PS that you don't care what colour profile you're using. Profiles help to tell your output device (printer for example) how to best recreate the colours you see on your screen. If you turn them off you might find images look a slightly different colour or are too light or dark when printed.
