  Q. whats the main difference between tlr and slr medium format

Asked by Matt Beidler    (K=6) on 2/10/2005
other than price. ive noticed them to be alot cheaper but why. im thinking of getting in medium format but I dont wanna leave and doors uncheck before dropping some serious money here.

TLR = Twin lens.

One lens for viewing, one for the film to take the actual photo.

Advantage is that it's a simpler design, no mirrors (slap, noise, etc). Problem is that they have aprallax error (viewing lense is from a slightly higher perspective). Also not a lot of options for backs or view finders or lenses.

SLRs are more like 35mm cameras, they have a big mirror so "what you see is what you get". Can change the backs and greater choice of lenses. Lots of different view finders (different angles, metered etc..)
