  Q. Vinyl(?) on S2A

Asked by Dean Cochrane    (K=335) on 9/25/2002
I just bought a Bronica S2A. It's in outstanding condition, mechanically perfect with very few marks on it, glass on both lenses is perfect, etc. But it has one problem, purely cosmetic: the black vinyl is peeling off. It looks like the adhesive has started to break down. Not surprising, the camera is 20+ years old.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what I can use to stick it back down?

Dean, I have used Pliobond for quick repairs. It dries to a flexable bond. Available at your local hardware store. Contact cement can be used, but it is difficult to remove (to service the camera).

Regards,
John

Pliobond is the stuff. Actually it is not as hard as other things to remove for repair purposes, so many repair technicians use it as well. If you want to cut new leather or leatherette panels, you can order sheets of it from www.micro-tools.com.
