Q. Help with Fill In Flash

I'm just wondering with the Nikon F65, when using the fill in flash during the day (morning), would it overexpose the face or will the camera pick the amount of light it need to prevent the face/skin to be overexposed or to get hot spots? Hope you understand what I mean and sorry so all the questions lately. Thanks, Kevin

Kevin,
I have a nikon F75 so i'm not 100% that the 65 will work the same. The fill flash will take the distance of the subject (face) in the calculation for the flash output (if you have D or G lenses). Also if you use a add on flash-gun from Metz or nikon, the camera will send this focus distance to the flash.
Normaly you get a good exposed face with a softer contrast between higlights and shadows compairing to no flash.

Both Nikon and Canon have good electronic flash metering, and both require about -1.5EV for quality fill, avoiding the appearance of that 'paparazzi flash', with dark background seen if flash is set at neutral. You need to experiment with your equipment, but I would start by adjusting the flash to -1.5EV and shoot some experiments to see how it all works. You'll be surprised.
