  Q. Help

Asked by Abel Van    (K=100) on 9/2/2010
Okay... So I use digital normally.... But I am trying to Learn as much as possible! So I am taking Film Photo 1.
Well I am so confused on everything and it's only day 1.... I need to get a film developing tank and contrast filters (small box) I have no idea what a developing tank is and the filters are all different colors of pink.
My questions are.... 1. What is a film developing tank for? 2. Are contrast filters normally all pink shades?

the film developing tank is for holding the film in a light tight water tight place while you run through the chemicals required to make the chemistry in the film react with those you pour into the tank.
Of course you dont need a huge tank just one that will take a 35mm film reel holder.
The annoying thing is putting the film into that reel i recommend a film puller and changebag for that.
Contrast papers are needed for the next step which is diffrent and requires the use of an enlarger.
Basically you do two steps in the film process step 1 develope the film into a negative.
step 2 develop the paper after exposure from the negative you made in step 1.
And thats it
