Larry, thanks for your comment. Unlike the 70-300, the 80-400VR needs some more help to get in close. I use a Canon D500 close-up filter for macro range work. This photo was taken at 400 mm. without close-up filter.

Interesting lens for this macro shot Eb...I get a lot of good closeups with my 70-300...this one is nicely detailed with rich color and great DOF...read your bio and it looks like you brought all your skills to digital with you...nice work

Thanks for your kind comment. Your perspective on the upper dark field may be correct but I think it balances with the massive lower foreground. The composition is a bit of a strange sandwich, which I posted because I am not sure about it!

Interesting natural close-up my friend but I think the dark part on the top a little bit too much ... therefor the DOF is great !
