i shot it the way i thought it was right, i dont see any shame in this picture or in the lighting, if you think there is a better method, which surely must be, then shoot it and show me, ill be pleased to see your way of shooting the duct.

Nice object to photograph. I think it is ashame that the backside isnt as well lit as the front. The key to shooting these simple objects is symmetry. It looks weird with this lighting. You should try and light the back as well. So you get object wel lit and thus creating summetry. Just my opinion. You should try it.
