I have a question ......Hopefully you can give me alittle insite tanya. I shoot with the Xt rebel 300D and was told that you can get just a IR filter and make good IR images is it true do you know.....The guy at a photostore here says he has never heard of it and I have been told some cameras you can and some you cant depends on something about the lens and on some you have to have some work done on it Is that all your doing is just using a filter and do you know or can you find out if I can do the same on my Canon rebel xt 300D? any help would be much appreciatied!
Paul
Ps///injoyed going throught your photos Love the looks of the trees in IR I just have this desire to do this kinda of stuff!

Tanya, Beautiful photo!!! Same park as the waterfront boat shots??? I am like you, interested in the IR shots, but still a learner. Don't know if it's me yet. I am interested in the particulars of how you did your shots. Keep in touch!!! Etienne

Hi Tanya,
There is so much more to do to an IR shot then just switching the red and blue channels. I never mess with the White balance in the camera. I do all my processing with CS2. as far as F/stop f/2.8 to f/5.6 is perfect. Stop it down any further then that. you will have hot spots in the shot. The typical work flow for one of my IR shots is done in about 20 different layers. Shutter speeds depend on the f/stop and what you are trying to accomplish.
If you send me an Original of one of your IR shot I can show you what can be done and give you a step by step instruction on how to do it. Let me know.
You can send it to Brioamore@gmail.com
Best Regards
Sam III

thank you so much for the encouragement...i just started yesterday. i heard somewhere that there is a way to adjust the white balance within the camera...but perhapse i heard wrong. when it comes to photoshop. what else is there to do besides switching the red and the blue channels? also, what aperture and shutter speeds do you recomend? THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! i admire your work so much =)

Hi Tanya,
I am glad to see that you and I shoot with the same camera. Thank you so very much for your comment on my IR shot. Thank you for adding me to your friends list. You have good work.
Shooting in IR is tricky but very fun. Let me know what you want to learn and I will try and help. I do all of my IR adjustments in PS CS2.
Kind regards

OOOH! Which infrared filter did you get, Tanya? This is waaay coool, and so much better than I ever got with a red filter.

Very unusual look. I've seen a few infrared in the group and I must say I really like the unusual look it produces. I don't know much about infrared, but as a photograph here is my opinion. I really like the how the brightest part of the image is centered and near the park bench. I think you have done a wonderful job, keep up the good work.

Tanya this is amazing. I'm seeing a few of these IR photos in here lately so I'm sure there are people around who can help you. I've only seen a few IR shots in here so this is all new to me but from what I've seen I think I'd like to try it. This is certainly a very moody photo and it caught my eye so keep shooting with that IR filter. Nice photo. Cheers - Ann :)
