If the Canadian Merchant Fleet wanted a picture of their inventory this would definietly be a great shot. As an art it makes me think very hard of values or a moods this photo represents. What is the message of this picture? What I see is a ship in a very flat noon or early afternoon lighting. The left 30% of the frame represents nothing and might as well be cut off the frame unless the wake or water turbulence is somehow important in this image. I think it would be much better if You left some open space in front of this vessel, it would create impression of space for the ship to continue its voyage. The yellow post in the foreground steals a lot of attention from the ship itself, but creates nice balance for all the blue sky and the blue water surface. What do You think?
