Mark, you'd find Warsaw a little different compared with 1991, not so much because of the new building that has undoubtedly changed the place, but more because of the happening attitude that has been moving in over the last few years. There must be some good reason why the numerous low cost airlines are flying hundreds of people in from elsewhere in Europe every day. Then again, I suppose I'm biaised... Come and look for yourself!

Beautiful shot John, perfect composition. I must visit again, haven't been since 1991. The New York Times had an article that Warsaw is an up and coming center of Art, etc (they compared it to the long ago Berlin) What do you think? Is it possible? All the best, Mark

Ah yes, Roger, but whereas there are (I think) 14 of these in Moscow, there is only one in Warsaw. It was a "present" from the USSR after WWII. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall, there were some who suggested that it should be demolished. Instead, it has had a clock added at the top, making it the highest clock tower in the world. It is now regarded as something of an icon for the city. The image here gives no sense of the height of the structure (231m in fact!)

Great silhouette, John. The palace of culture looks like a lot of Stalinist architecture I saw in Moscow (I'm thinking particularly of Moscow University). The young couple look like any young lovers. Makes a nice contrast...
