About Montreal's Notre-Dame Basilica has nothing in common with Paris's except the name. It's a neogothic building dating from 1829, constructed on the site of a much older and smaller church which had been outgrown by its parishioners. Notre Dame is noted for its lavish and beautiful interior - stained glass windows, gold-tipped polychrome carvings, paintings, statues, and especially its lavish altarpiece. It also has a notable Casavant organ and its big bell, le Gros Bourdon, is the largest bell on the continent.
I hope you like it,
Btw, I would like to Dedicate this picture to Fadel Al Jaifi: http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/53632.html

...and a more panoramic shot on that, I like the soft corve that the lens makes here, beautiful result...

Carsten, Thanks allot for the advice about taking two shots and stitching them, I never thought of this one, I am good in stitching '' both cloths and pictures :) '' but I never thought of that, Now I learned something new and thanks for you my friend,
i will consider this for sure in the future, kind regards,

Superb colors and detail, I love the wonderful color contrast of warm and cold. The rest of the arch... yes, the rest included in a square, would be perfect IMO. You dont need a wider lens, you have 4GB space and could shoot another one, with 50% overlap, to stitch them together for a square. I love the square (@ the moment, that can change), and find it often useful to expand my FOV with stitching. Makes nice large prints, BTW. Hassy for the poor ;-)

Cheers

Carsten

Thanks Thilo for your kind honest comment, Yeah the lens is great, I was thinking about getting the 50 1.4, but it is kind of expensive, when I tried the 1.8, well not a big difference :)
Btw, you got me really concerned about the Title, would you please let me know what should I change it?! It is the name of the Church!!
Please let me know and I am more than glad to change it,
Kind regards Thilo and thanks for your kind comment,
Regards,

Hi Annooos,
I was using Canon 50mm 1.8 lens, It is a prime lens, that has no zoom in it, this was the problem, when using another lens, the picture is totally lost because of the softness, I needed a faster lens, and a sharper one that didn't has zoom .. :)
I have another vertical one, I will be saving it for a latter on,
Thanks dear for your kind honest opinion, much appreciated,
Regards,

Can't agree any more with you about the wider lens, unfortunately I don't have one, but hopefully soon.
In regard to the vertical composition, I have one :)
It is also very good one, but I am saving it to the last :)
Definitely Montreal is a place worth visiting, Any time in the year you will be having fun,
Thanks Eric for your kind comment and glad you liked it,
Regards,

Eric Peterson   {K:4419} 9/19/2005
Gorgeous colors and detail but I can't help wishing you had a slightly wider lens, or possibly a vertical shot might have suited the altar better at the expense of a few of the flanking saints. In any case, you've just made me add Montreal to my future travel plans.
Eric

Very good "about" for this splendid image Ameed. Can you think that I live in Montreal, and that I can spend several times in front of or around this imposing structure without never been inside!!!
That's me.
Great work Ameed.
