This is a really good and thought-provoking image, Bradley! It developed in three stages for me - the thumbnail, which looks like a benign little happy 'bug-face' creature; then the full image where the chair back becomes clear, with all it's 'Rube Goldberg' twists and curves; then finally the title and the context slamming home the terrifying reality of what it represents! What can I say? Excellent!

Emgy, I am humbled by your generous words. Your insight is so very thoughtful.. Further, the fact that you took the time to look back at the first series makes me very happy. The experience was a powerful combination of terrifying questions and heartfelt sympathy. It felt like I held my breath from the time that I entered....till I left. Thank you so much for your kind words! ..Brad

Hi Brad, What I remembered of the first series you posted in August last year is just the first three photos and particularly your reply to my comments where you mentioned a thunder storm, rain and wind coming through from the broken windows. I missed the rest of the series as I left on a three weeks holiday abroad. With this photo, you got me curious again so I went back and look. Well.... I can tell you that I got immensely sad after seen the first one I had missed. Yet...... I went on, intrigued and fascinated. It is the most touching series of pics I've ever seen. What must have gone on in that place through the years is probably beyond my imagination. I certainly don't mind cause thoughts I get in my head are already pretty devastating. Not a place for me to visit a second time but I'm glad that you did and it's a shame you were escorted out of those grounds before you could shoot more. Again, every single photo is fascinating but scary. This one, for example, gives me ideas of a chair especially designed for torturing people. I don't want to think any further. I know that I'd better focus just on the photo itself. It's a good one! Excellent the perspective and the blurry background. Conversion in B&W works very well here like in most of the others in both this new series and the previous one. Really great work, Brad, Thanks for sharing Best regards - Emgy

The imagination doesn't have to leap far to visualize what might have happened in that chair. Chilling image, superbly captured. The sense of isolation, disorientation, and fear is palpable.
Amazing series. A fav.

Can't decide what's more chilling, the images or the 'about'...

Brad, these images just keep getting better. I have to admit that I am a bit slow today and it took me a while to realize what it was. Doesn't look like any chair I would want to see myself sitting in. And what's so odd is that I see a smiley face going on on the back of the headrest. I doubt there were many smiles around this chair. You have chosen such a clever way to photograph this. What adds to the creepiness is the blurry object in front that appears ghostlike. I just love this series (can you tell?) Next... :)
