Just amazing Adriane. Actually he's reaching for a piece of toast with peanut butter on it (one of his favorite things to eat). He eats with us. He loves anything with cheese on it, Fruit Loops cereal, most all kinds of beans, with raisin bread he digs out the raisins and eats the butter off the top. He likes to crack chicken bones and eat the gristle on the ends and the marrow in the middle. He just loves fresh corn, canned corn and field corn. He loves milk and ice cream, most pastas and I don't know what else. He is just a ball to have. As I type right now, he's sitting on a perch right next to the keyboard conversation, little jokes and laughing. . . he's my friend.
Thanks for your comment,
Dave

Was he talking or yawning? He looks like one of my birds when they yawn. Terrific capture and details. Aren't they amazing creatures to live with?

Hi Jude,
Amazing creature and please for anyone wanting an African Gray or really any of the parrots, these are very very smart animals and you cannot just buy one and leave it in the cage all the time anymore than you would a child. It is cruel to do that and you will end up with a mean bird with all sorts of behavioural problems. You've got to be willing to spend significant amounts of time with them. You are the highlight of their day and have a responsibility to them. Anyway, off my soapbox, but think about what is involved before buying such an intelligent creature.
Thanks again Jude,
Dave

Wonderful shot, David...I've heard these guys are incredibly intelligent. Saw a report on one in National Geographic that was truly amazing. Say 'hey' to Jabez for me.

Thank you timur and Marcus.
Jabez has a vocabulary I can't even begin to count. He adds new things all the time. He just picks them up from the conversations around the house and uses his little phrases to join in with us. When I get ornery with my wife, he says in a very loud and authoritative voice, "DAVID!!!". Letting me know that I'm treading on thin ice. He makes rude noises and laughs. He loves to laugh. When someone says something he doesn't like he makes a rude noise and I have no idea where he picked that up. He commands the dogs around, telling them to 'lay down', 'bark', 'sit', lots and lots of things. He is just amazing and it's not just mimicry. He makes up new phrases and uses them appropriately. I could go on and on. He's just an incredible bird.
Thanks again,
Dave

I understand when you say he is your friend, rather than a pet...I have the same feeling about my special furry or feathered friends... He is lovely and cute, best of luck and long life to him!! The light and contrast are amazing, I just love the smooth effect.
