About These tiny bees clamp their jaws around stems of grass every afternoon and there they stay for the night.
This image taken around 7:30pm just before dark.
I like how the one on the left placed it's foot on the other bee's leg.

Great to hear from you Ronnie! I am so glad that everyone is doing ok. And I will look forward to seeing all the great photos of the Tetons. I think I may try to go there next year on vacation. Thanks for the nice letter, and again...the best to you and your family.. Teresa

Hello Teresa,
Thanks for your concern. We just escaped the damages and flooding that occured in New Orleans. I live closer to Baton Rouge and we had around 75mph winds with only some tree damage. We have four family members living with us that lived in the New Orleans area. They just found out their homes were not flooded or damaged. Two of them returned home today and the other two should be able to return in the next week or two.
As wierd as it may sound, I have been in Yellowstone and the Tetons for the last 10 days, returning Saturday late. We hated to leave at such a bad time but had this trip planned for over a year. Since my family and my wife's family were safe and sound, we reluctently left for Wyoming. Happy to say everything went smoothly at home and had a great time on our trip. I should be posting some images of the trip later in the week. Again, thanks.

This has to best one of the best macro wildlife pictures I have seen. The composition, colour and detail is superb Ronnie. Were you an Entomologist in a former life? I get the feeling from looking at you pictures that you have a great empathy with the natural world and your chosen subjects.

Thanks for posting such inspirationa work. Makes me want to keep trying. Regards John

Ronnie, I am impressed to no end with this one. It would be tough enough to get the bees in focus, but you have gone beyond to capture a bee's 'moment'. Looking at your macros, I get a greater sense of the details of nature - ones I have grossly overlooked all of my life. Wow. Impressive and inspiring. Congratulations! Sam

It's a fascinating photo. It's so clear that it looks like an illustration. Probably helped that the bees were motionless. And it shows the 'jaw' of the one bee right around the stem. The touch is nice, though you wonder how the hanging bee will manage to hang on (it looks like it is being pushed off). The composition is a nice bias. There are no hotspots (not really). And nothing really seems concealed in darkness.

The lighting is just great. Ambient light only, at 'magic hour'. Tripod shot, and a full one second exposure! It's an outstanding photograph.

Hey Big Buddy,,,,,this is about as good as it gets. The soft light really brought out the detail and subtle colors. A benchmark macro shot!
