Oh wow!
extraordinary capture!!Nice observation...........

Gives me a feeling like a huge dark monster got trapped in it's own saliva and just pondering as how to get out of his own misdoing????

Surely an Unusual vision for something as mundane a abarbed wire hook!!!
Congrats

Heath, this is splendid as usual. You attention to the finer details shows through in this. Love the whole thing - at first I thought the barb was a spider in there. Very very very cool.

Hi Heath, Good to see more of your work after such a while. The recognition of style and approach arwa mentions in her comment sure are a give away, mainly because of the frame format. Although I think a thin inner line between photo and frame would make a difference, the heavy black works well with this subject. Great contrast too between the softness of the web and the rigid, forbidding spikes of the barb wire. I find the focus in the near front a bit surprising; as I think placing it a bit deeper could've added another dimension in this shot, but then again, this works very well, and I doubt if both my suggestions would make any difference. Outstanding work, as usual.

Cheers,

Hugo

Good idea,

And solution is also interesting - most sharpness on soft object, and sharp edges of barbed wire - out of DOF.
