Fantastic shot!!! Using a bullet was a bit over the top though, don't you think? A pin would have disturbed the water much less. Or maybe not??? We will never know.
About 6 months ago I asked if you could photograph a match just at the time it is lit. You said it was too easy, but that you would do it.

Hi Dan, very impressive combination of shots, and an outstanding timing. Very creative and professional! Thanks for the explanation, very interesting set up. Just out of curiosity; how many attempts did you need, and who did fire the pellet gun, presuming you pressed the exposure button?

Maybe a needle from behind would cause less force on the water than a bullet and the shape would remain a little better. Just an idea. How do you time the flash?
