Well, Dottie, I have to confess that I was pretty weak and ineffective when the four-wheel did get into trouble in the water. I can only comfort myself with the thought that the following day I found out I had dengi fever, so that's my excuse and, to use the old cliche, I'm sticking to it...
Fortunately, Henriette, no-one was hurt (despite one man coming close to being washed away by the current) and the four-wheel drive was pulled out. The driver should never have attempted the crossing but since it was his own pick-up he had the final say. Like everyone, I share your sentiments about the recent catastrophe. On a smaller scale, though, families all over Asia are hit during the Monsoon Season, which (paradoxically) also provides much-needed water. It seems there's nothing in life that doesn't have a 'downside' to it!
It instantly makes me think of the big catastrophe in Asia. This photo shows a really current and relevant situation. My heart goes out to all the victims.. Henriette.
