About Here is another one from my road series. Whereever I go, I seem to always get a road shot...hehehe!! This image was taken out towards the gemfields about an hour from my home.

This one is for you Howie Mudge. You asked me to get my last BW image from ground level so is this low enough...enjoy buddy!!

A fabulous dramatic angle you have handled here Judi. Were you on your knees to shot such an angle? The effects are wonderful and yes the B&W tone fits real well in such a shot. Cheers my dear friend.

Wow. Talk about a low perspective. Great DOF and composition too with the line of trees leading around the corner of the road. Well done!

You do see the odd snake on the road but it is usually way to hot for them during this heat. So I am okay with that.

Wasn't it Olivia Neutron Bomb who sang about Country Roads? Wonder if she meant this one. Great perspective taking the eye to the very dramatic sky. Nice one Judi.

If the white strips on the road were bright yellow and the tarmac was blacker and the sky more threatening then I might have gone for the color one...but you can't have everything!

As is, my vote goes for the BW.

Cheers

Manu, I like the coloured version very much. But I felt I would try the BW version and I really liked the emphasis it gave the image. I have uploaded the coloured version in the comments if you want to let me know which one you prefer also.

And I thought I had a thing for roads and pathways ;) This is a wonderful composition, Judi. I like the way the lines draw the eyes into the image. The low point of view works very very well - one gets a sense of the rough texture of the road to the soft fluffy clouds. While the tones of the sky are perfect, I'm a bit ambivalent about the grainy sky. How about a bit of grain reduction, if possible? I like your work a lot so I look at it longer and hence am being more picky here :)

Thanks Howie. As long as you realised. I have done low down shots before. As I said in my about this is part of my road series. There are other road shots where I have been down on the ground level also, and theyt are in my portfolio too. I haven't heard that quote before. But who needs a black bag...there is nothing wrong with getting a bit dirty. That's all part of the fun.

I certainly noticed that this one was for me :) I dont know if you had ever tried this low perspective before? A good photographer once said 'All great photographers carry a black plastic bag to get low down and dirty' LOL. Not sure if I told you that before either. It works well because its not a normal angle we see. Works great on buildings, bridges etc. Really appreciate this one :)

Hugs

Fantastic perspective! the B&W sure gives it more personality. I love the line leading the eye, no chance to look another way. Great job! Regards, Raf

BTW, I don't think I've ever lived in a place where even after an hour driving form home I would see an empty road like this, frightening :)

I like the point of view that you choose here Judi. The perspective is emphasizes by the shape fo the clouds, and the whole composition gives the felling that we have to go further. The contrast between the white line and the well detailled chippings is well done.
