Hi Verena, thanks for your reply, and of course, I'm happy to oblige and comment on this photo. It does strike a chord with me; for starters, the idea of using the magnifying glass to emphasise the intense stare of Leon is very creative as well as original.
I do like the composition, nothing to nitpick about on the angle ). In this case, the centered placement of the primary point of attention works quite well, and I do like the choice of the title for this shot.
The title in combination with the stare could probably be a bit more emphasised by either a more selective lighting, or a harder contrast, but that's quite ambiguous. Also, I'm not so sure of the choice of this tone, not sure why, because it is well balanced, but it somehow makes me look for different things. Something personal, I guess.
Including the rail on the left is a nice touch, and fits well within the composition, but on the other hand, it doesn't have alot of added value (nor is it distracting, though), Judging from your style, it does belong there, but another option would be to crop the intensity of the stare a bit closer, in (possibly a feeble) effort to emphasise it.
Bottom line, this one makes me think; and that's what I like in photos. Besides, it has that extra touch wich makes it very good. Furthermore, it has that ingenuity that marks your work. This is definately something to elaborate on! The idea is there, but in all fairness, the finishing touch on some of your other photos is slightly stronger
Cheers,
Hugo

You had a good start too ;) I am a bit embarassed for the main... I like this portrait, the diagonal pose is very impressive and the lens adds a touch of originality, only I think that thing over his head is distracting. I wish you a splendid 2005!!! Max
