Thanx for your comments on my images. I use extension tubes, teleconverters and diopters to get more magnification out of the canon 100mm macro that it will give normally. Best,
Mark

Thanx Andrea. They were in flight. They were "hovering" for about 20 minutes. You can see a couple more similar shots at the bottom of the page at http://www.pbase.com/mplonsky/hovers

Fantastic portfolio Mark.
And this is excellent... But, how did you get this shot? Was they flying? or flew only the upper one?

Probably the smallest "aircraft carrier" I have ever seen Mark ;-)

Always great to revisit your portfolio and see how macros should be taken - superb photograph :-)

Best wishes,
Steve

ok, I've just looked through your portfolio. Stunning work. I like this shot also. Looking at work of this standard makes me realise how far I have to go! (This is a good thing by the way.) Fantastic.

Wooooooooow Mark, this is superb. It's getting better and better with your macro shots.....lol......Never thought there would be space for improvement after I'v seen your work for the first time. Normal people like me would have big problems photographing one of these hoover flies in mid air, but you are even able to capture them in mid air mating!!!! Congrats. Fantastic....Best regards, Harry

Thanx Pat- I used a 420ex flash covered with a diffuser and mounted on a bracket. I seem to always use some fill flash in my macros for that extra bit of detail that you speak of. I also used a 2xTC and 20mm ext tubes before the 100mm lens. And this image was cropped a bit for web presentation.
