Thanks Mary Sue (and all the others) for your kind words to this posting. I actually was quite hesitant to post it, I was not sure if this was not too blue and now you all seem to like this because of the blue. Anyway to come back to your question, it was taken with my workhorse the 24-85, 3.5-4.5 from Canon.
I actually tried to post a more subtle greyish version of this pic on usefilm, but there are always too many compression artifacts with that one and I cannot get a handle on it. If any one of you knows a good recipe/workflow to reliably downsize and compress pics I would be very greatful. Regards, Joerg, and thanks again!

This is an amazing and beautiful photo. Everything from the monochromatic colors to the spot on composition is just lovely.
What I kept repeating to myself as I looked at it initially was, "He took this with a 10d, he took this with a 10d!" It gives me hope as I shoot with the same camera.
Can you tell me what lens you used?
