About Today in Sendai Japan there was a great festival called the "Sparrow Dance Festival". This was one of the younger participants - I love the asian look. The people are so beautiful and cute.

Hi, Stephen

What I meant - and could have worded more simply - is that a vertical, in-camera crop would have really emphasized the face and minimized the extraneous 'information'. I tend to be a bit wordy because I'm trying to convey the harmlessness of my opinion.

Pardon me if I intrude, but I took the liberty of 'editting' your photo to illustrate my point. I have changed nothing but the crop. This done in the camera would be superior to the 'hack' job I've done.

Magnificent portrait Steve! You have done real well in presenting the face and avoiding noise. Cheers brother.

You make wonderful comments and all are welcome, I thank you - it was at a festival. Not sure I understand your first sentence - but if there is a critique that you have, and know a way to avoid including the clutter in the sides, that festivals tend to have, - I really would love to hear more. Honestly - its the best way for me to improve.

Personally, I think this would be a better image set was portrait because the 'stuff' on the sides don't contribute to the photo at all. In fact the orange on the left makes the green in her skintones stand out all the more.

That being said, let me add, what a great face! She's adorable and obviously enjoying her participation in this dance. Good capture of real emotion.
