About Yes, you can say I still play with dolls, but my dolls are not exactly for children? This is an experimental series of dolls I have at home. Again slow shutters and wide aperture, some smoke for effect, candles and the help of some surfaces which have my favourite Pre-Raphaelite ?like colours, (once I put a large fire in the middle of my room due to this).
What I need to add is that part of my work has certain influences, this series with dolls is influenced by music bands with a childlike element like Mum, Piano Magic etc and film animation geniuses like Brothers Quay, explore them and get lost into them?.

I copy paste the links in a comment so that you have immediate access?this is a new world my friends?welcome to ?shifting realities??

Mary, very interesting image. It's remarkably similar to a painting style my wife has been experimenting with. The colours and the 'human' form are very similar although hers are based on runners. Great work.

I see Marcio, I will not misunderstand you "Mr religious art", it is not exactly a baby in a hot shot, but red is an itense color in a way that it brings out what is already in.

I know we are...Quite a meeting , yes? Thanx for everything, you comments on technical matters are the best and the most heplful I got, as helpful as the conceptual ones, and they are so incredibly helpful and tactful. I am a geat addict of "say what you say using careful language, as language as many dimensions" Check Quay brothers... as a friend said, my images are always messages in a bottle and I do this intentionally, as I do it to my group (paradox ethereal) here in Greece with the conceptual events I organize. Love and rose petals!

Hugo thanx for the tip, you are absolutely right! Candles help in the creation of 3D effect, i will have this more in mind, I already do it but seems not to apply it all the time! The yellow tones and the other tones are created by means of relections of plastic papers that I place the lighting source behind, but this not the case in all images as sometimes the yellow tone has merely to do with the existing light of the room and the ASA of my film. I appreciate all the ecouragement in this project, i will upload more! I hope you are already a fan of Quay brothers!

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Hi Mary, Reading your description and the bio in your portfolio, I realise the yellow tone, also in the previous one, is entirely created on purpose.

My only point of critisism would be that although I like the softness in the doll, I think a bit more contrast, showing its true 3D shape would've been nice. It's already slightly there on the left side. Maybe placing a candle between your camer and the scene would've cast some light on the doll. It would've made the doll stand out a bit more, I think.

Cheers,

Hugo

The saturated red and yellow leads me to think of organic tissue, and the "nerves" or "veins" amplify this association. Good composition. I like the open-ended interpretation you leave us with.

the world of Brothers Quay wide open in front of us. This photo brings me in mind fairy tales but not for children, the colour is like a fire. Very nice shot!
