About One of the Bucks who honered me with its presence tonight. They finally have their summer coats and are very striking. up until last week they were losing the winter coat and looked pretty shabby. Thi was a full body shot, I cropped to create and portrait type image.

Great "mug" shot.

Perfect exposure and good mgt of DOF. The Green/Yellow background is almost like a studio backdrop.

Well done...

Jim,

You really are getting some nice deer shots and this one is no exception. Nice, crisp details and great looking color. I curious why the background looks grainy. Did you run this one through Neatimage?

Thanks for the kuddos on the deer shot. this lens I got last year by trading in some manual stuff, its an old model, mechanical drive from the camera to the lens, not the Silent Motor one. ( maybe some day) but it has a history of being sharp. also the D70 seems to work well with it.

A wonderful portrait. The resolution of that lens is great. Great capture. Don.

In response to your question concerning how I am so Lucky. I am going to tell you my secret. I have a camera within my grasp 24 hours a day. In fact I recently bought a Canon like yours so I could have a quality camera with me at ALL times.
The secret to success in photography was once put like this. : f8 and be there ". Now I will say it pays to be in the right place, and that comes from understanding your subject. I would venture to say that top Wildlife photographers have as much or more data ( books)on thier subjects as they do on thier equipment. Hope this answers your question.
