Another fantastic treatment of this subject. The lighting is beyond magic and the composition uses the birds masterfully. Great stuff here!

Oh, Yeah! Stunning shot. great tones, and the haze evaporating from the calm rippled water is awesome. The repetitive couple of birds, both on the boat as well as in the water are a good detail. I don't think cropping this image is a good idea, as the openness in the composition forms an essential part to the tranquil atmosphere. Great shot.
Cheers,
Hugo

Beautiful shot John. I really like the amount of detail you have retained. All the more amazing considering the effort necessary to use the camera through all the clothing that must have been required! regards John.

Hi Neil, thanks for your comment. Congratulations on your recent multi BIP's. Your work seems to have taken a different path with your recent images. I like them a lot. This was taken on Sunday morning in a very heavy frost, the day after the All Blacks gave England a lesson in Rugby at Carisbrook. I'm sure it will be a different story next week at Eden Park. Keep up the good work. Regards John

Hi John, Great song (Deep Purple) and great photo (John Lamb) :-) I know these waters well as you know, fell in probably more times than anyone alive whilst windsurfing there, also played golf down in Otakau - John. I never tire of these views from Otago and you and others are my eyes for me here in switzerland. Thanks for sharing. Would love to have the D70 - do you like it? Best wishes Neil

Thanks for the comment, not sure what you mean about "low resolution." This was taken as RAW format at 240 dpi. Of course lowered when saved for web but looks perfectly fine on my CRT monitor. Regards John

The thing that's most impressive in this composition is the background and boats in fog, so this composition with the part of darkness in top is so better. good capture and nice crop, just the resoloution is low. please see my photos john!

Thanks for your comment Peggy. This was taken into the light so I underexposed it to retain detail in the highlights. The result was very monochromatic so I converted it to B&W and slightly lifted the contrast, then added a warm overlay. Regards John

I like the composition and the lighting. Is the color really monotone or did you do something to the photo? :-)
