About I'm back from seeing the new year turn over in the middle of the Texas desert and surrounding mountains of Big Bend.... What a fun area to discover for the first time, and to photograph -- and it's right in my back yard, a mere 6 hour drive away!

Ooooh! Right out of a classic John Ford western.

This was well worth the drive. I wonder why is it called "contrabando". Is it near the border?

Carol,

Wonderful qualities in this shot all three components, skies, hills, and chapel have similar tonal qualities and textural feels which makes this an interesting shot for its smoothness and tonal texture (that sounds like an oxymoron but it is how I see this).

Carol, welcome back! This is a wonderful shot, beautifully composed. It looks a fascinating area...only 10 hours from me?! Probably more tolerable in the winter months.

such a dramatic exposition, and a place looks like an universal crime (western) scene
